Goathland (known as Aidensfield in the television
series “Heartbeat”) is an attractive moorland village in
the heart of the North York Moors National Park. There
are interesting walks, including one to a stretch of
Roman road and others to the Mallyan Spout waterfall,
Beck Hole (Birch Hall Inn - Good Pub Guide) and
Darnholm. Goathland station on the North York Moors
Railway is a “Harry Potter” station. There are village
shops, a post office and a range of places to eat and
drink. Sheep roam freely in the village, adding to its
charm. Nine miles away is the ancient town of Whitby,
on the Heritage Coast.

Ellars Cottage is a converted stone barn on the edge of
the village and sleeps up to five people.

There is parking for two cars.

Sorry no pets and no smoking.

There is restricted access to mobile networks in the
village. Currently Orange receives the best signal.
There is a public telephone in the village.
